Amazing progress...
Date: 25th Jan 2022 @ 2:10pm
The children in FS2 are blowing the staff away with the amazing progress they are making. This week we have moved on to the story of Cinderella. We read the story together as a whole class and talked about the key events and the characters. Some children described the Step-Mother as "evil" and "nasty". We spoke about her being a villain. Our reading of the story inspired some great independent work. Some children chose to make "carriages" using the construction and creative area materials. Others chose to draw Cinderella in her beautiful dress and others created their own paintings!
As well as our work around Cinderella, we have focused on number formation in Maths. It has been wonderful to see children keenly forming numbers using our number formation rhymes (sent home in your yellow home learning books). I look forward to seeing your home learning books after the February half term break. Some children have continued to practise writing numbers in continuous provision. Maybe you could ask your child if they can remember some of the number formation rhymes?
As always our children get to spend time in continuous provision, accessing the different areas of our classroom. We are keen to foster independence and for children to make active choices in the activities they would like to pursue. It has been wonderful to see lots of active learning. One example was in our technology area where a steering wheel supported the role-play for a "train".
We have had a fantastic week so far!
