Chinese New Year

This week be have been concentrating on Chinese New Year. We have watched videos and shared books related to the festival. We have been learning that this year is "The year of the dragon". The children have learnt about China and covered some facts including; what the flag looks like, how long it would take us to get there on an aeroplane as well as the delicious food that they eat. The children had the opportunity to see how people prepared for the Chinese New Year such as adding decorations around their home; many children then had the opportunity to create or draw their own decorations. We also then had the opportunity to try some of the delicious foods in a taste testing session. All the children had the opportunity to try spring rolls, noodles, soy sauce, fortune cookies and delicious jelly. The children thoroughly enjoyed trying the new foods and immersing themselves into the festival of Chinese New Year.
