Developing gross and fine motor skills
Date: 28th Sep 2021 @ 2:32pm
We are having a big focus on developing our gross and fine motor skills in FS2, to support us with our early writing. The children have started our 'Squiggle While You Wiggle' sessions this week - focusing on developing our confidence to draw different shapes e.g. lines, circles. This will support our letter formation for writing. We have enjoyed water painting outside, again to develop our muscles for writing. We are also focussing on our Phonics sessions, so far we have been learning 's' 'a' 't' 'p' and 'i'. Some children are starting to blend these to read short words such as 'it' and 'pat''.
Lots of us are keen to create obstacle courses outside - involving travelling over, under and across equipment. It is wonderful to observe them using their gross motor skills and challenging themselves. I am so proud of all the children in EYFS. They are so settled and are learning lots each day!
