Helicopter Stories

In FS2, the children take part in a weekly 'Helicopter Stories' session. This entails children orally creating their own stories that staff write down for them, then we act them out using a staged area as a full class. Some children become the characters, others different parts of the setting e.g. the castle, a tree. Other children become the audience. It is such a fun part of the week. 

This helps develop children's imagination, confidence, vocabulary and story telling skills. The stories at this time of year are simple and short. As the children's confidence, vocabulary and story knowledge increases through the year - their own story creations become more detailed and longer - with a clear beginning, middle and end.
