Lots of exciting learning

The children in FS2 have had a very busy week! We have started our Maths learning, taking part in a carpet time each day which has focused on counting and grouping different objects such as buttons, gems, leaves and sticks. The children have shown improving counting skills and have all joined in enthusiatically! We have also started our Phonics sessions - focussing on 's', 'a', 't' and 'p'. We have loved our Dough Disco sessions where we have used our muscles in our hands to squeeze, stretch and roll the dough to one of our favourite songs 'Baby Shark'. These sessions are really important as they will strenghten our muscles for writing. We have also thought about 'Keeping Healthy' linked to National Fitness Week, the children noticed after dancing that their hearts were 'beating faster' and they felt 'warmer' and 'sweaty'. I was very impressed with their observations! Also, we have started to think about the season changing, noticing that leaves are starting to fall and change colour. Lots of us could talk with confidence about some 'Autumn' changes. We loved working together to collect leaves, sticks and conkers in the outside area, it was wonderful to see the children working so well as a team! The children have also had time to explore the continuous provision, lots of us have enjoyed exploring our loose parts area, as well as drawing, painting and building!
We are so proud of your children and how settled they are in FS2!
